Phil Ivey hails from New Jersey.

Phils grandfather taught him how to play Five-Card Stud. His grandfather deployed old hustler tricks like dealing from the bottom deck dealing to teach Phil about the crooked side of the poker world. This stood him in  good stead.

Phil Iveys poker career really started in Atlantic City where he made a name for himself as a high-stakes player ahead of going on to the live tournament circuit.  It was in the year 2000 an at the age of 23, Phil triumphed in his first World Series of Poker Event number 14, the $2,500 Pot Limit Omaha tournament triumphing over Amarillo Slim and Phil Hellmuth  in the Omaha event.

This was bracelet number 1 and his bankroll was boosted by almost 200k.

Many who follow poker consider Phil Ivey to be the best poker player in spite of his young age as he was only born  in  1976.  Phil has been  playing big live cash games for around 10 years.  It is possible that Phil Ivey has earned tens of millions paying the game of Poker itself but his net worth could be in  excess of $100m million due to his interest in the Full Tilt Poker company.  Phil is always looking to improve his Poker and is constantly working to make his game better.

Phil spends some of his time away from the poker table at the golf course.  He is also rumored to enjoy a bet away from the Poker table.  Sometimes combining the two and Betting on golf. Phil is also famous for making some big bets like betting on himself to win at the World Series of Poker.
